I am thinking about consulting a chiropractor, but I am afraid that it will hurt.
Treatments are generally painless for the majority of patients, whilst patients arriving and suffering with moderate to severe pain may potentially experience some passing discomfort, the relief felt after treatment is immediate.
Will I need more than one appointment?
As no two of us are the same, or what your individual problem may be, it is impossible to judge how many visits you will need without a preliminary consultation. After this is performed your chiropractor will go through his diagnosis and indicate how many treatments it will take to get rid of the pain and prevent the problem recurring.
Does a chiropractor only treat back pain?
Although this is what many people associate a chiropractic service as addressing, your chiropractor can offer the help you need with headaches, neck pain, muscle pain, ligament pain, and generalised joint pain too.
When I was having a chiropractic treatment I heard a popping noise, what was that?
When your chiropractor is putting your body’s joints back into their natural alignment — as the pressure changes within the joints, the sound that you hear is small gas bubbles as they are released.
Do chiropractors offer pre-natal and post-natal care?
As the ligaments and other body changes happen rapidly during pregnancy, it can alter your way of walking and your centre of gravity, putting stress on your spine and other joints. Your chiropractor can ease this discomfort by re-balancing these areas.
What should I wear for my appointment?
Whatever you are comfortable with, as after your consultation your chiropractor will advise you about your treatment and whether you need to partially undress and if so, you will be provided with a gown, and he will leave the room while you change.
Can I make an appointment directly or do I need to be referred by my GP?
Chiropractors are regarded as primary health care, which means you can access us directly and do not need a GP’s referral.
